The FBK Audio Wizard

Funny Bomb Kill (FBK) is looking for a Resident DJ / Show Music Operator — our FBK Audio Wizard — to join our crew.

And honestly?

This position doesn't really exist yet.

We're creating it.

We know what we want the role to become, and we're at the beginning of building FBK — which means we're going to figure a lot of this out together.

It's not that we don't know where we're going. We know the plan. We know the formula. We know exactly what we're aiming at — down to the little details.

Year Zero just means everything gets built fresh — and you get to learn it from the ground up, with us.

We're looking for a cool, talented, creative person who knows their way around music and audio, understands how to work a live room, and wants to be part of building something from the ground up.

WHAT IS FBK?

Funny Bomb Kill is a recurring live comedy show filmed in front of a live audience.

We're building an entire ecosystem around the show:

• —Recurring comedians.
• —A host.
• —A live audience.
• —Production crew.
• —Camera crew.
• —Social-media crew.
• —A resident DJ.
• —Merch.
• —A post-show social experience.
• —And eventually a whole FBK family of people who help make the show what it is.

The goal isn't just to put on a comedy show.

We're building an experience.

And sound is a big part of that experience.

THE AUDIO WIZARD

We're looking for someone who can help us create the musical and audio identity of FBK.

You should know how to:

• —Operate DJ/audio equipment.
• —Trigger music and audio cues.
• —Work with a live production.
• —Follow a show rundown.
• —Hit cues accurately.
• —Read the energy of a room.
• —Adjust when things change.
• —Work collaboratively with a host and production team.
• —And, most importantly, have good instincts.

You don't need to walk in knowing exactly how FBK works.

Nobody does.

We're going to build that together.

THE SHOW

The main responsibility is the FBK live comedy show.

Our regular Sunday show is approximately:

7:00 PM — Show begins

~9:00 PM — Show ends

You'll have approximately 30 minutes of pre-show responsibility leading into the production, followed by the filmed show itself.

The pre-show is about warming up the room and getting everybody into the right headspace.

Then the cameras roll.

That's when your role really kicks in.

MUSIC & SHOW CUES

FBK will develop its own library of recurring music and audio cues.

These can include:

• —Opening music.
• —Host entrance music.
• —Recurring comedian entrance music.
• —Walk-off music.
• —Transition music.
• —Energy-up music.
• —Energy-down music.
• —Closing music.
• —Special recurring musical moments.
• —Original FBK themes.

We have recurring comedians who will develop their own identities within the FBK ecosystem.

Some will have their own entrance music.

Eventually, the audience should hear the first few seconds of a song and think:

"Oh shit — that's [comedian]."

You'll help us build that.

SOUND EFFECTS

This is where the Audio Wizard part really comes in.

There will also be recurring sound effects and audio moments built into the show.

For example:

• —Heartbeat cues.
• —Tension sounds.
• —Comedic stings.
• —Impact sounds.
• —Short transitions.
• —Special effects for specific bits.
• —Recurring character or comedian sounds.
• —Other custom FBK audio moments.

The key is timing.

Sometimes the right sound at exactly the right moment can make a joke actually land.

That's the kind of thing we're looking for.

You'll learn our existing cues, and as we develop the show, we'll create new ones together.

YOUR CREATIVE STYLE MATTERS

We want you to bring your own taste.

We're not handing you a playlist and saying:

"Press play."

We want someone who can say:

"I think this would sound better."

"I have an idea for this entrance."

"What if we tried this sound here?"

"The room needs more energy right now."

"I found something that I think could become an FBK thing."

Tell us.

We're building this together.

Your musical taste can become part of the identity of the show.

Your ideas can become recurring parts of FBK.

And over time, we want people to recognize the sound of FBK.

PRE-SHOW

The final approximately 30 minutes before the show is about getting the room ready.

You'll help:

• —Warm up the audience.
• —Establish the atmosphere.
• —Build energy toward showtime.
• —Prepare the opening cues.
• —Make sure everything is ready before cameras roll.

We'll have appropriate music available for content that may be recorded and published.

If we're shooting social content and need to make sure the background music is cleared for use, production may simply say:

"Switch to content music."

You'll switch to the appropriate approved/licensed music.

Simple.

MUSIC RIGHTS

Because FBK is filmed and distributed online, we'll be mindful of what music can actually appear in published content.

We'll have approved/licensed music available for situations where cameras are rolling.

We're also completely open to original music and music you personally control or have properly cleared.

If you produce music yourself?

Even better.

We want to hear it.

POST-SHOW

Once the filmed show ends, the audience may stick around.

There can be:

• —Drinks.
• —Food.
• —Merch.
• —Photos.
• —Comedian interaction.
• —Socializing.
• —Music.
• —Hanging out.

The post-show isn't the primary DJ responsibility.

We can handle background music with a playlist or another simple system.

If you're there hanging out with the FBK crew, great.

You're part of the family.

But the heart of your job is the show.

AND YES — WE'LL PRACTICE

This is important.

We're at the beginning.

Nobody is expected to walk in on Sunday and magically know the entire FBK show.

We'll have time to:

• —Rehearse.
• —Learn the cues.
• —Learn the comedians.
• —Practice entrances.
• —Practice transitions.
• —Build the audio library.
• —Test sound effects.
• —Figure out what works.
• —Change things that don't work.
• —Develop the system together.

We're going to learn how to dance together.

That's part of the fun.

The goal is that after doing this for a while, everything becomes second nature.

You'll know when a comedian is about to come out.

You'll know the cue.

You'll know the energy.

You'll know when to hit the music.

You'll know when to hit the sound effect.

And eventually, you won't even have to think about it.

WHO WE WANT

We're looking for a cool person who wants to be part of this.

Someone who:

• —Knows their way around DJ/audio equipment.
• —Has good musical taste.
• —Understands timing.
• —Can operate confidently in a live environment.
• —Is dependable.
• —Can follow direction.
• —Can also give direction and ideas when appropriate.
• —Is creative.
• —Is comfortable learning.
• —Is comfortable experimenting.
• —Can work with a team.
• —Has a good sense of humor.
• —Wants to build something instead of just collecting another gig.

You can be:

A guy. A girl. Young. Older. Experienced. Still developing.

We don't care.

What matters is:

Can you do this?

Do you want to learn?

Do you want to be part of it?

Do you think you can bring something to FBK?
